Inilah Ponsel Paling Laku Bulan Juli
Senin, 11 Agustus 2008 - 11:50 wib
Sarie - Okezone
1. (1) Apple iPhone
2. (5) Nokia 3109
3. (3) Nokia E51
4. (4) Nokia 6300
5. (-) Sony Ericsson C902
6. (-) Sony Ericsson C702
7. (7) Nokia N95 8 GB
8. (8) Sony Ericsson K810i
9. (9) Sony Ericsson K530i
10. (6) LG KU990

Gartner: 2008, Penjualan Ponsel Meningkat 11%
Senin, 11 Agustus 2008 - 11:29 wib
Sarie - Okezone
(srn)

Operator Bisa Blokir Ponsel Curian via IMEI
Senin, 4 Agustus 2008 - 13:06 wib
Sarie - Okezone

Super 3G (LTE)

In response to the rapid increase in multimedia and ubiquitous traffic, DOCOMO is developing technologies for Long Term Evolution (LTE), or Super 3G, an advanced version of 3G that will serve as the stepping stone to 4G (IMT-Advanced). Using current and planned new 3G spectrum bands, Super 3G (LTE) will enable high-speed transmissions of up to 300 Mbps (megabits per second) in downlink, a major advance in the evolution of mobile systems. It will also cut down significantly on control and transmission delays, thereby helping to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the system.
One of the main characteristics of Super3G (LTE) is its dramatically improved data transmission rates, the goal being downlink at up to 300 Mbps and uplink at up to 75 Mbps, as agreed upon by the 3G Partnership Project (3GPP). A related characteristic is reduced delays thanks to shorter frame and simple protocol in the evolved air-interface and network architecture. In fact, latency is expected to be less than 100 msec for call setup and to be less than 5 msec in radio access network (RAN) during data transfer. Another key characteristic is significant improvement on spectrum efficiency. The ambitious targets for user throughput and spectrum efficiency are between two and four times those of HSPA.
Although Super3G (LTE) will use the existing 3G spectrum, advanced new technologies incorporated in its radio access system will enable for significantly improved performance. One such technology is orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), which transmits high-speed data using numerous multiple sub-carriers in parallel, a method especially suited to areas with multipath propagation, such as urban environments. Another key technology is multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), which uses multiple transmission and reception antennas on the same frequency to create different data streams that are multiplexed spatially. Radio access networks will use simple architecture for low latency and low-cost network construction. The core networks of Super3G (LTE) radio access will be all-IP networks, which eventually could be configured to smoothly accommodate more advanced 4G (IMT-Advanced) radio access systems someday.
The 3GPP is devising standardized specifications for Super3G (LTE), with DOCOMO's aggressive activities playing a key role in the process. In conjunction with significant advances in the standardization of the LTE RAN, DOCOMO began developing experimental equipment in July 2006. Following the construction of a prototype Super3G (LTE) experimental equipment, indoor and field trials began in July 2007 and February 2008, respectively, and resulted in the achievement of up to 250 Mbps in downlink. Future tests will evaluate transmissions in typical operating environments. Development of commercial equipment, which will be carried out in parallel with the evaluation of the prototype equipment, is targeted for completion by the end of 2009.
Future Technologies
NTT DOCOMO is already making rapid progress in such areas through a wide range of innovative research, building expertise and techniques as we move forward towards exciting new business opportunities.
Innovating dreams
Our goal is to create a broad array of exciting new services - services that will bring undreamed-of convenience to people everywhere.
In addition to Audio Barcodes and 3D Display System introduced in this website, cutting-edge technologies beyond the imagination are already under development. These include a system that makes distant objects feel like an extension of the human body for ultra-realistic experiences, and advanced chips that will allow items such as household appliances to communicate. What's more, we are actively realizing 4G technology such as MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) multiplexing technology and a wireless access communications system, as well as contributing to the establishment of specifications for global standardization.
Researchers at NTT DOCOMO have a clear vision of the future. A future that will unite all of the above advances and many more, to create a world where people can communicate at a higher level, regardless of time and space.

Business Model (part 2)

Content Quality Control
We are committed to upholding the available quality content through the i-Menu. All content is continually updated, enhanced and designed to support clarity and application. The value of mobile Internet services is judged by subscribers according to the content quality. Therefore, the provision of high-quality content is a vital means of attracting customers.
All i-Menu content is authorized by NTT DOCOMO, while quality is maintained by setting high operability standards and offering quality services. Other content providers complement these services via their own sites as demand dictates. The i-mode service Is thus energized by attracting more subscribers, enabling added high-quality content.
Simple Pricing System
We collect monthly information charges for the i-Menu listed content providers via a consolidated bill for all mobile phone activities, thus eliminating the need for provider billing. This arrangement reduces expenses for the content partners and encourages them to generate high-quality offerings to attract new subscribers, thereby boosting their profits. Additionally, we are able to generate incremental revenue by charging a small commission for the clearinghouse billing system service.
Business Model (part1)

Ingenuity is exemplified in the i-mode business model with an outstanding example of the NTT DOCOMO platform. It synchronizes all value chain aspects, ensuring that, content, quality, wireless technologies and user experience all evolve at an optimal pace. The billing system is streamlined by bill consolidation, with DOCOMO now collecting information access fees on behalf of i-Menu-listed content providers.
Business Strategy
i-mode has been extraordinarily successful in Japan. This is because of its outstanding convenience and it's unique business model. Its reliance on this system offers an innovative approach to the mobile service value chain and to wireless service / Internet relationships.
We collaborate closely with equipment manufacturers, content providers, and other platforms to ensure that wireless technology, content quality, and user experience evolve jointly. This synchronization guarantees that customers, partners and shareholders share interests with end-user's, thus enabling all parties to maximize value and to continue to improve the quality of products and services connected with i-mode.
Moreover, it has been our mission to make i-mode operationally as simple as possible. By adopting an HTML subset we have made the creation of sites exceptionally simple. We have also enabled the compatibility of many other standards including: GIF, Java, MIDI, Macromedia Flash, and HTTP.
We have also been promoting beneficial alliances with a variety of international partners, including content providers, overseas operators, ISPs, software developers and manufacturers. These alliances endorse our international coverage; encourage the development of new collaborative products, and offer i-mode users the most cost-effective, high-quality products and services available globally.
As mobile services evolve and data traffic increases, our unique joint business approach enables major competitive advantages in the global communications markets. Our success stems from our ability to create "win-win" situations for all of our partners and shareholders.

NTT DOCOMO to Discontinue New Subscriptions to 2G mova Service
The company also announced that it will waive the normal charge of 2,100 yen (including tax) for any mova user who transfers to a FOMA™ subscription beginning August 8.
Given that mova subscribers have been steadily migrating to DOCOMO's popular 3G service, FOMA, the company has decided to eventually discontinue mova and concentrate on FOMA. The timing of the mova service's actual termination will be decided depending on market factors such as how fast mova users continue to migrate to FOMA.
In addition to terminating mova service, DOCOMO will also stop offering the free battery pack by the end of November. Presently, DOCOMO offers a battery pack free of charge to members of DOCOMO Premier Club (DOCOMO's loyalty point program) on the condition that they continue to use mova service for at least two years.
Additionally, DOCOMO will stop accepting applications for its car phones by the end of November.

Google Search engine on 80 percent of the mobile phones in Japan

Soon 80 percent of the mobile phones in Japan will feature the Google search engine.
That doesn't necessarily mean Google will have an 80 percent share of all Japanese local mobile searches. Google partnerships with the #1 and #2 mobile carriers in Japan forces Yahoo and MSN to compete for the bronze.
Here's the math: Google (NTT DocCoMo + KDDI) = 80 percent of the Japanese mobile phone market. Not a bad equation. sumber

Very recently, Japan’s largest mobile phone company, NTT DoCoMo, took a 3% stake in Nippon Television, a play that further strengthens a relationship that began early last year with the seven-year, $83 million limited liability venture D.N. Dream Partners (DNDP).
The move, which follows DoCoMo’s purchase of 2.6% of Fuji Television Network shares in January 2006, is the latest gamble linking a broadcaster and a telecom giant in a bid to boost services to customers, and represents another step toward a union within the two media sectors. sumberMobile signups:KDDI & DoCoMo lose out to Softbank again in May (Japan)

Dokomodake, the happy little mushroom made by Japanese telephone company NTT DoCoMo to sell more cell phones, is getting his own Nintendo DS game on December 6. Dokomodake is a well known corporate mascot. Let’s say it is NTT DoCoMo’s Ronald McDonald. The character is everywhere in Japan, usually dangling off of cell phones. Plus he’s cute looking so that’s probably another selling point for AQ Interactive. Still it’s awkward to see corporate mascots in games and I can’t think of one paid advergame that turned out well.

NTT-DoCoMo phone will have the Android operating system
NTT-DoCoMo carrier gave its strongest support yet to Google's Android platform on Thursday when it said it is considering a cell phone based on the technology.
"We are starting discussions to offer handsets that will have the Android operating system," said Takeshi Natsuno, managing director of the multimedia services department at NTT DoCoMo.
The talks include getting support for I-mode, DoCoMo's hit mobile Internet service, on the Android platform. Nearly 48 million of DoCoMo's 53 million customers subscribe to I-mode, so having it on Android will be key to the Google platform's success in Japan.
Android is a Linux-based platform for cell phones that will combine open source components and include an operating system, a middleware stack, a customizable user interface, and applications.
NTT DoCoMo is one of the founding members of the Open Handset Alliance, the group developing Android. Until Thursday, it hadn't disclosed what it hoped to gain from its participation in the group, which comprises about 40 companies, including some of the biggest names in the cell phone industry.
DoCoMo Develops 'Intelligent' Li-ion Battery Pack
NTT DoCoMo Inc unveiled a battery pack that can detect the deterioration and troubles of a Li-ion secondary battery used in a cell phone July 22, 2008.
The company exhibited the "intelligent battery pack" at Wireless Japan 2008, which is an exhibition of wireless technologies and runs from July 22 to 24 at Tokyo Big Sight.
NTT DoCoMo developed the battery pack in response to the explosions and fire accidents of Li-ion secondary battery packs for cell phones that occurred in 2006 and 2007.
"As a measure to enhance the reliability of battery packs, we will start to employ the new battery pack in our new models within a year," said Kazuhiko Takeno, director in charge of technology promotion, the Mobile Device Development Department of NTT DoCoMosumber
Flash support by NTT DoCoMo phones
The deal is the first between Macromedia and a cellular network operator and part of the company's strategy to get Flash support into a broad range of portable and consumer electronics devices in addition to personal computers.
The first handsets that will have Flash support as a result of the agreement will be NTT DoCoMo's 505i line-up that is due to be launched sometime during 2003.
The 505i line will replace the operator's current high-end 504i line of handsets and Flash support will add to a growing line of features that includes Internet e-mail, mobile Web browsing, a built-in digital still camera, basic JPEG graphics, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption, and the ability to run Java applets.

Still, since Softbank’s announcement, DoCoMo has reportedly been “unhappy” that its smaller rival beat it to the deal, according to AP. Reuters reports that DoCoMo spokesman Shuichiro Ichikoshi said the company “has not heard back from Apple after talks to sell iPhones.”
Meanwhile, one analyst believes that if Softbank is the only carrier, the iPhone will 200,000 to 300,000, 500,000 “tops.” Tokyo-based UBS managing director and telecoms analyst Makio Inui said, “It’s not going to move the needle in this market.” Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son apparently has his own doubts about the phone as well, and is said to be “skeptical” about its ability to bring in the Japanese subscribers. Number two carrier KDDI, meanwhile, said it was not interested in offering the iPhone as its customers tend to skew younger, and as such already have music phones.
Apple's iPhone in Japan: Where's DoCoMo
Apple's iPhone in Japan: Where's DoCoMo?
But a Businessweek feature looking at Apple's options in Japan notes that the Softbank deal is most likely not an exclusive one. There was no mention in Softbank's terse iPhone announcement, though this is usually the sort of news that operators like to crow about. Most likely, Apple is using the Softbank deal to put pressure on DoCoMo, which in the past has openly balked at the revenue sharing deal?said to be as high as a 30 percent cut of airtime revenues?that operators must submit to in order to carry the iPhone.
'We don't like Windows,' says DoCoMo 2
The company is not pushing development of any other operating systems, he said. "To tell you the truth, we don't like... and we don't have a plan to invest in Windows. Windows is not for the mobile space, the files are big."
DoCoMo also announced three new handsets that are compatible with the new platform. The N901iC by NEC and P901i by Panasonic use a Linux version of the platform, while the F901iC by Fujitsu uses Symbian.
The handsets announced this week are the end results of two joint projects to develop phones based on the common software program: one between DoCoMo, NEC and Panasonic; the other between DoCoMo and Fujitsu.
'We don't like Windows,' says DoCoMo 1
The common platform is designed to cut costs and speed development of difficult-to-make 3G phones, said DoCoMo. The platform consists of middleware for common services and functions, customised modules for the operating systems, sample device drivers, sample application software, handset emulator software for personal computers, and development guidelines.
The Tsunami in Trouble
Japan's DoCoMo loses mobile market dominance
DoCoMo held a 49.7% share of Japan's total mobile phone and Personal Handyphone market at the end of March, down from 50.2% in February, the Telecommunications Carriers Association said. DoCoMo acknowledged that it was the first time in about a decade that its market share had fallen below half, the Reuters report said.
Shinji Moriyuki, a senior analyst at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities commented, "As user needs become varied, it's hard for any one carrier to hold on to a majority of market share. Softbank is winning in this changing market because it has a retailer's eye for pricing, design and services, while the others are still thinking like telecom firms."
March is a big month for mobile phones, with carriers fighting to sign up students and new corporate recruits ahead of April, the start of the academic and financial year in Japan. The race for new signings was won this year byJapan's third largest carrier Softbank, just ahead of second-largest carrier KDDI, the report said. Despite a marketing blitz to try to keep pace with its price-cutting rivals, DoCoMo signed on 173,700 net new users in March, only around a third of Softbank's 543,900 new subscribers or KDDI's 500,500 users.
